Description

La Luna is the timeless fable of a young boy who is coming of age in the most peculiar of circumstances. Tonight is the very first time his Papa and Grandpa are taking him to work. In an old wooden boat they row far out to sea, and with no land in sight, they stop and wait. A big surprise awaits the little boy as he discovers his family's most unusual line of work. Should he follow the example of his Papa, or his Grandpa? Will he be able to find his own way in the midst of their conflicting opinions and timeworn traditions?

Beautiful, but it was beautiful when Italo Calvino developed the theme in “The Distance to the Moon” in the Cosmicomics. This film rips off a number of the elements (e.g. hoisting a ladder from a boat to the moon, getting pulled in by the moon’s gravity at the top of the ladder, characters speaking a gibberish language), but I didn’t see any author credits. The film is a fine piece of work, but I can’t endorse it without attribution.

All I can say is this is wonderful, heart warming and creative. I love animated shorts, and when I saw this with Brave, I knew I had have it.

I loved this pixar short when I first saw it in the movie Brave. I never saw a short so simple yet so dazzling wonderful before it almost has a Miyazaki feel to it. I love the all the characters and its theme of being your own man and how to solve problems and hope others will enjoy La Luna too.
