Beautiful settings and a commoner villain don't help this yawner get past its numerous problems. There's virtually no plot, the nighttime pieces are really poorly shot and hard to follow, only one character gets any meaningful development, and the ending is too predictable. I really wanted to like this one since I like similar movies, but this one's a mess.

No, it doesnt have a motive, but you don't always have to have a motive in a film like this. I felt like I was alomst just there watching in person. If you liked Deliverance, you'll love this movie! I REALLY liked this film.

This movie doesn't explain itself at all! Boring and the acting is horrible.

Thomas Wilson Brown was "KILLER" in this movie!! I'm sure he'll be getting more "bad guy" role offers after this movie. If you're tired of the same old Hollywood thrillers, then this movie is for you! It's not over the top ridiculously out there, which is what makes so many other thrillers unbelievable. It's creepiness comes from how real the movie feels...as if it were based on a true story rather than on a work of fiction. Great film. It really sneaks up on you and then takes off.

Rented it from redbox and watched with my girlfriend. Very 70's throwback. Not so much horror but very intense. Actually the lack of blood and guts was kind of refreshing. It's kind of the "What you don't see" is scarier style.
  • More thriller than horror

A gritty outdoor thriller where evil is not complicated and can be turned on by just a kid's comment. Subtle foreshadowing adds fatalistic undertone to this other wise relatively direct story. " Some of you will be life long friends."

This film is fantastic because of how realistic it is. If you liked The Shinning then you'll love this film. What takes place could happen in real life, anywhere in the world and thats why I felt it was scary. The killer is not a fake monster, alien or ridiculous mythical creature with superpowers like Freddy or Jason. He is someone that I see truly existing in real life, kind of like Robert Hansen. I love how it immediately captured my attention and retained it through the rest of the film. The Mooring had an older kind of look, similar to the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes, that I felt was very detailed and captivating. The locations were spectacular and had a lot of depth. As I went through the film, I felt more and more immersed in the story. It's nice to finally see real images and not CGI or green screen like most films today. The acting was very real and I felt like I knew each character. It's nice to finally see realistic characters instead of some ditzy porn stars running around, saying stupid lines and taking their clothes off. This film didn't have to rely on typical "scary movie predictions" to keep my attention. The only thing I didn't like about the film is how people are killed. It was a little too close to what you would actually see on the news and that's probably why it is "R" rated. Just like Jaws has given me a never ending fear of the ocean, The Mooring has given me a never ending fear of the woods. I rented this film and am now going to add it to my collection. I wish more films like this would be made today.

Believe me, it isn't worth the money to buy OR rent... predictible and "Netflix" quality if you get my drift.
