Description

Following the French atomic bomb tests in the South Pacific, an unknown creature is spotted passing westward through the Panama Canal. Scientist Niko Tatopolous is called in to investigate the matter, and he quickly arrives at the conclusion that a giant, irradiated lizard has been created by the explosions. Godzilla(r) then makes its way north, landing at Manhattan to begin wreaking havoc in the big city. Even with the combined forces of the U.S. military to fight the monster, will it be enough to save the people of New York?

Godzilla is bad, the movie, and the director really ruined Godzilla, like Godzilla is a mutanted iguana, and Zilla? Really?

As a giant monster film on its own, it’s decent. As a Godzilla film, it doesn’t cut it. Roland Emmerich himself admitted he wasn’t a big Godzilla fan and essentially did a remake of the far superior The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms. When you think of Godzilla, you picture a nuclear force to be reckoned with. This iteration is not even close to that. Thankfully, the 2014 Godzilla film stayed true to the Big G’s character and was far more successful. Also, this film spawned an epic animated series that was more faithful to the older Godzilla films. I agree with hardcore fans that this simply wasn’t Godzilla, but it’s still fun in its own right. 6/10.

    Best Godzilla movie ever
  • The worst

This is by far the worst Godzilla film ever created. I had high hopes for the film. This creature is not Godzilla. To call it Godzilla is an insult to the real Godzilla. Everything about the film was terrible. More money went to finding A-list actors over script.

Forget about the TOHO Godzilla nutcases. This may not be strictly speaking a "Godzilla Movie", BUT it is a really FUN movie to watch. Forget about the haters. This is a great $4.99 movie! Buy it. You won't regret it.

I love the movie, and if it's so gawdawful then why did it get the full treatment of 4K, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos?

This movie gets serious hate. I can never understand why. It has some imperfections but overall this is a testament to how good 90s movies really are. The direction is fantastic, the special effects for the majority of the film are still fantastic and I truly enjoy the quirkiness of most of the characters. I understand this isn’t the type of Godzilla movie most people expected back in the day, but in my opinion it holds up incredibly well. Great action movie, and the sound is incredible. Earth shattering on a great sound system. The explosions and Godzilla’s roar truly sound unbelievable. The 4K transfer is also top notch.

Itunes who does your marketing campaigns for movies? I sware people are not going to purchase 30+ year old films for $14.99 are you INSANE!!!! Were in the middle of a freakinig pandemic and you want to charge full price for this montrousity of a film? I love Roland Emmerich films, even as much as it pains me to watch 2hours of this movie with an absolutely horrendous script and and pitiful acting galore, I am undeniably drawn to this movie every holiday and that goes for all Roland Emmerich movies!!!
