Description

A mysterious drifter known as Brayker (William Sadler) possesses the last of seven ancient keys that hold the power to stop the forces of darkness and protect all humanity from ultimate evil. But the human race is safe only so long as Brayker can evade the demonic Collector (Billy Zane) who has gathered the other six keys. In his obsessive quest for the key, the Collector rallies an army of ghastly cadavers against Brayker and the inhabitants of a run-down hotel. Armed with automatic weapons, sacred blood and sadistic humor, Brayker and the strong-willed Jeryline (Jada Pinkett-Smith) must lead the other guests in a gruesome battle against the Collector and his evil horde of ghouls. Infested with a talented cast, thrilling special effects and the Crypt Keeper's deadpan delights, Demon Knight delivers diabolical fun and a body of frights.

Since most of the reviews for this movie on THIS platform are several years old, I thought it would be nice to break the “status quo”. Though I never grew up watching the show (AND HAVE YET TO ACTUALLY WATCH IT!!!) I believe Demon Knight perfectly captures the tone, feel, and theme/s of a typical TFTC (Tales from the Crypt) episode. An hour and a half long, but feels like HALF of that because of how engaging the characters, acting, and action is. Like many before me have clearly stated, Billy Zane friggin’ STEALS. THE. SHOW - XD. I’m assuming many of you have already seen the trailer (or - better yet - the movie) because WHY ELSE WOULD YOU BE SPOILING YOUR EYES & EARS WITH MY REVIEW?! Anyways, (got that TECHNICAL spoiler alert out of the way) Billy Zane should now be part of the “Villain-Typecast”. He is energetically lively, maniacally smug, and charmingly hilarious as the Collector (or, as I like to call him, THE DEMON KNIGHT!!!). The other characters are, too, but Billy is the one you’ll most likely remember the most. William Sadler plays Frank Brayker, the hero trying to defeat the Collector. Fortunately, he is able to enlist the help of some other sweet (& notable) characters including Matrix’s Niobe (Jada Pinkett), JLU’s Amanda Waller (C.C.H. Pounder), & Ghost Dog’s Nobody (Gary Farmer). With all these elements (AND MANY MORE) combining as easily as Lego bricks, Demon Knight is a horrific, comedic, & dramatic action-packed adventure one has to SEE 2 BELIEVE!!!

This movie is okay but it is not as good as series or the movie that was made in the 70s. Itunes sould put the put the old "Tales From the Crypt" movie from 1972 on here.

I love this movie. Billy Zane is a great bad guy, and the demons look cool. The story is really good and the movie keeps you interested until the end. I am sure there will be a crappy remake in the next couple years. A must watch if you haven't seen this.

The filming, effects, acting, and pace of the movie are great. The storyline is goofy but not utterly ridiculous. I can buy that demons existed out in the void before creation... created. Or at least I can after I watched Billy Zane in this, he's so awesome as the lead demon. Good Saturday afternoon fare.

There's nothing spectacular about this movie (although the retake on the true nature of the Crucifiction is fun) but it just... works. I don't know why, exactly, it just does. Horrific without being sickening, philosophical without being preachy. And of course both Billy Zane and William Sadler are perfect casting. Vastly superior to the second "Tales from the Crypt" movie, "Bordello of Blood," although the latter has a much higher boobie count and is somewhat better known because it stars Dennis Miller. If you saw that one on Skinemax or something and are dubious about this one as a consequence, put it from your mind. "I'm just an old man... who's running out of time."
