Description

Margaret Hall (Tilda Swinton) is a lonely Lake Tahoe housewife whose naval officer husband spends months at sea on an aircraft carrier. In his absence, Margaret does her best to do right by her family, no matter what. So when her eldest son's lover washes up on the beachfront in front of their house, she does the only thing an unflinchingly devoted mother could: she hides the body to protect her son. What begins as a riveting cat-and-mouse game soon turns into a haunting love story with self-sacrifice at its center. For, as Margaret attempts to dodge blackmail, the law and even the questions of her family, she herself becomes exposed.

A very good film with excellent performances by Tilda Swinton, Goran Visnjic, and Jonathan Tucker. The ending is a heartbreaker.

I never write reviews, but I had to after watching this. It's one of the dumbest most unrealistic movies I've ever watched. So stupid.

It seems like a good movie on paper. Even the first third is arguably still pretty good. But this quickly becomes messy, and really unbelievable after that. What I can't understand is the use of this particular plot to deliver the point of the film, or at least what I think is the point. Performances aren't bad but the script is. Skip this one...

And predicatable. Investment of time in a movie that delivers very little. 3 stars because I actually was able to sit through the whole thing.
