Description

For the first time in motion picture history, the outrageous talent of Richard Pryor and the ingenious comedic sense of Jackie Gleason are combined in the same film. Gleason is U.S. Bates, a megalomaniac millionaire who owns most of south central Louisiana. Pryor is Jack Brown, a former journalist who has worked his way down the vocational ladder to the position of janitor in Bates' department store. Among Bates' other vast holdings is a young son Eric (Scott Schwartz), who visits his father for one week a year. Typically, Eric is chauffeured to the department store after-hours to pick out anything he wants. This time, Eric has a more elaborate toy in mind - Jack Brown. So begins the unique relationship that teaches Eric more about life than fun and games.

Now I know why this movie was so funny when I was 6 years old: it was because I was 6 years old. 30 years later, it was downright painful to watch.
  • Great!

To all those who say this movie sucked, you don't know your a** from your elbow! This is a goofy old movie from my childhood! Short and simple...Richard Pryor, Jackie Gleason, two great comics in a great comedy!

For 99 cents it was not worth the money. Don't waste time on money on this movie.
  • Don't listen to the bad reviews!

This movie was great when I was a kid and great still. Before the times when cgi was expected in every movie this movie was well accepted! Do yourself a favor and rent it!

Glad it was only .99 on rental. Though there were some humorous aspects in the movie overall it was just not that funny to me. At times it was almost painfully predictable. Stereotypes can be made funny, the ones in this movie were not. Save some cash and get a classic.
