Description

Ane is a construction manager who lives a quiet and unfulfilled life, trapped in a seemingly loveless marriage. But when she suddenly begins to receive weekly flowers from an anonymous sender, things begin to look up and she sets about discovering the source of the mysterious bouquets. Meanwhile, tollbooth attendant Lourdes and her crane operator husband Beñat struggle to please Beñat's mother, Tere, who wishes for a grandchild that is not in the plans. When a sudden, tragic event brings all of their lives together at a crossroads, flowers once again begin to appear anonymously, this time representing different emotions. Beautifully composed and emotionally complex, this rare Basque-language drama reflects on loss, memory, and missed connections to examine the unexpected reverberations and mysteries of interwoven lives.

Somewhere between the concept and the ending, a better story was lost. This film is very moody, without emotion, though we see love and death, and jealousy and envy and longing. But not one character takes us into the drama because all we have is mood. Interesting that everyone is estranged from everyone win their life, almost like in totalitarian or dystopian times. It is so remiss in character, it is just like a dull sic-fi pic. Unrealized is the best I can give it.
